Take It You Messy Bastards 1971
Gouache, Letraset and pen on paper, 510mm x 592mm
In the early 1970's, the National Savings Bank ran a series of ads in the colour supplements which featured a man holding out money. He was cut out and transformed into the Instigator, the modern deity who is both worshipped and whose principal underlies everything. He turned up in a lot of places, in a lot of guises, before his final resting place in the first ANARCHY IN THE UK magazine.
